Helpful Places, Content Creator & More

If you read the whole guide up to this point, first off, thank you so much! I’ve worked for many weeks on this and hope it will give a good first impression on Linux, its capabilities as well as current shortcomings and how you might as well join our incredible community for a safer, more private, more secure and by now more comfortable user experience. With more users there’s also more interest by companies and people to support the platform and less of a “chicken & egg” problem many people unfortunately still see.

As I can hardly cover every single specific problem here I’ve compiled a small list of forums and other places you might want to check out.

  • Linux Mint Forums – Official forum of the Linux Mint community.
  • Linux Mint Community Hub – An awesome place to find guides, software and connect with fellow users.
  • πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ LinuxMintUsers – German forum and wiki for Linux Mint users. Very friendly!
  • Zorin OS Forums – Official forum of Zorin OS.
  • Ask Zorin – A community-driven “question and answer” website.
  • Pop!_OS Chat – Web-based chatrooms for and by Pop!_OS.
  • Linux.org – A general Linux forum with lots of users. Includes a Tutorial section.
  • LinuxQuestions – An old forum with lots of users. Also got a wiki & articles section. Very knowledgeable.

Content Creator

These are some of my personal favourites who are either presenting content beginners and less tech-savvy people might feel comfortable with, or are a great start into the tech behind Linux. Please be aware that this section is highly opinionated and that someone not being mentioned does NOT mean you shouldn’t check them out too!

The Linux Experiment

Nick is an awesome source of weekly information about the open-source community, reviews of Linux hardware and cringy dad jokes. He has the same goal as I do: present Linux in an accessible way, without too much ‘techno lingo’.

LearnLinuxTV

A great source for Guides and How-to’s. While he focuses way more on terminal apps and advanced tools he presents them in a very accessible way for novice users.

Forum

Average Linux User

Doing a lot of list-style videos as well as reviews and tutorials, ALU’s has a more common approach to Youtube content. In addition to videos he also offers text tutorials on his website.

Level1Techs

Level1Techs is a great source for in-depth hardware videos and regular shows covering a wide range of topics losely connected to technology. While not laser-focused on Linux, all hardware videos are made in context to usage and compatibility with it.

On my own behalf

Writing this guide took me a long time and was often quite tedious given a lot of detail information and multiple distros I had to work with. If you think this guide was helpful and want to support my work, please consider supporting me. Any amount is greatly appreciated!
